Humanities Faculty Extra- Curricular Activities

All subjects within the faculty encourage students to engage in developing their knowledge and understanding of the subject outside the classroom. There are a number of well established and popular societies that meet on a regular sometimes weekly basis.  These include the History, Geography and Politics Society. These events usually involve a presentation by a student, a debate a quiz or a discussion. On occasions, outside speakers are invited to address these societies, from politicians to university lecturers and former Ambrosians.  Business Studies and Economics Students have the opportunity to participate in school and National Competitions such as Dragons Den and the Target 2.0 challenge organised by the Bank of England.  Subjects within the Faculty offer Field trips, opportunities to listen to leading experts at Manchester Universities or excursions such as visiting cities of interest in America such as New York and Washington.  All subjects encourage students to set these subjects in a contemporary context through reading the newspapers to understand developments in these areas.

The calling of the humanities is to make us truly human in the best sense of the word.
