Music
The Music Department at St Ambrose College is a vibrant, busy and welcoming place that immerses itself in the wider life of the College.
Students have a wealth of opportunities to showcase their musical talents through annual school productions, awards evenings, carol services and religious-based music making throughout the year. The Department takes great pride in its annual productions, which range from original shows featuring student compositions, to large-scale musical theatre productions. One particularly memorable example was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which brought together an impressive 150 students from St Ambrose College and four local primary schools, celebrating musical talent, creativity and collaboration across the wider school community.
The Department also provides students with exciting opportunities to broaden their musical horizons through trips and performances both in the UK and abroad. Recent musical adventures have included visits to Vienna and Salzburg in Austria, Aachen in Germany and London. These followed a memorable performance tour to Disneyland Paris, where the College's orchestra and choir performed at both Disneyland Paris and Rothschild Hospital in Paris. The Department continues to seek new and inspiring musical experiences for its students, with New York firmly in its sights as a future destination.
The Department facilitates a wide range of extracurricular clubs and ensembles, including the choir, staff choir, orchestra, School of Rock, brass band, clarinet quartet, jazz band, music theory club and music technology club. The Music Department prides itself on delivering high-quality performances whilst remaining inclusive and accessible to all, encouraging students of all abilities to develop their musical talents, build confidence and experience the joy of making music together.
