In Year Admissions
St Ambrose College is a Catholic boys' Grammar School. The College is currently full in all year groups.
How to Apply
All In Year applications must be made through the Trafford Council Application Portal: Trafford Portal Link. Applications will be acknowledged, and parents will be notified within 15 school days whether a place is available.
Waiting List and Assessments
- In-year admission assessments will only be undertaken if a place is available in the relevant year group.
- Should a place become available, all applicants in that year group will be invited to attend an In-Year Assessment to ensure they meet the College's academic standard.
- All applicants who qualify for a place through the In-Year Assessment will be ranked as per our Oversubscription Criteria, which is the same as for Year 7 Admission, and the place will be allocated accordingly.
- Applicants who qualify academically but cannot be offered a place due to oversubscription will be placed on the in-year waiting list, which remains active for 12 months from the date of the assessment.
Reassessment
- Only one in-year assessment per academic year is allowed for each applicant.
- If an applicant is unsuccessful, reassessment can only take place 12 months after the original assessment.
Reapplying
- Parents must submit a new application at the start of each academic year if a place has not been offered, and they wish their child to remain under consideration.
Right of Appeal
- Under the terms of the Education Act 1998, parents of children refused admission have the right to appeal to an Independent Appeals Panel.
- The decision of the Independent Appeals Panel is binding on both the School and parents/carers.
- ‘In Year’ admission appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
- Please contact the Admissions Officer if you wish to exercise the right to appeal.
