COLLEGE PRODUCTIONS

College productions have always united the Ambrosian community providing an opportunity for all to be involved, whether in front of the bright lights on the stage itself, or as part of the huge backstage team learning to operate the lighting and technical equipment. The College recently transformed into the 'Ambrose Big Top' for a three night run in July 2022.  Past productions have also included Joseph, Bugsy Malone, Oliver, The Tempest, Wonderland, Lord of the Flies and Lewis Carroll’s absurd comedy The Hunting of the Snark.

THEATRE VISITS AND VISITING THEATRE COMPANIES

At GCSE and A-level, Drama and Theatre Studies students must experience Live Productions as part of their course. They are examined on their ability to analyse and evaluate productions in a written examination. To assist with this, and to inspire their own future performance work a number of visits and productions held at College by visiting professional theatre companies are held each year. Family and friends are warmly welcomed to attend theatre visits.  Likewise, younger students are welcome to attend selected productions. Visiting the theatre regularly proves to be highly inspirational for students of all ages.

LUNCHTIME THEATRE SCREENINGs

New this year, lunchtime theatre screenings provide students with the opportunity to see high quality theatre experiences that have been recorded live in venues across the UK including productions from the National Theatre.

clubs and societies

Students are encouraged to join the one of the many clubs and societies on offer from the Drama department, these include 'Skills and Scripts', 'Skills and Improvisation' and 'Theatre Critics Society'. The societies run weekly at lunchtimes, providing students of all ages with opportunities to develop their skills outside of lesson time.

Students have access to private tuition from a visiting LAMDA practitioner.  Further information is available from the Drama Department.

PERFORMANCE SHOWCASES

To celebrate student achievements, at key intervals in the year there are performance showcases. Family and friends are warmly welcomed to share and celebrate performance highlights.
