In Year Admissions

St Ambrose College is a Catholic Grammar school and we are currently oversubscribed and there are no places available for any year of entry.

Should you wish to register your son’s interest for a place that may become available then please complete the In-Year Application Form.  Your son’s name will then be placed onto our waiting list and kept until the end of the academic year.

Should a place become available, we will contact all applicants on the waiting list for that particular year group to arrange an assessment to ensure grammar school suitability.  Those applicants who are successful in the assessment will be ranked as per our Oversubscription Criteria – please see our Admissions Policy.  Places do not become available very often and a successful outcome does not guarantee that a place will be offered.  Reassessment of a candidate following an unsuccessful ‘In-Year’ assessment test may only take place a minimum of 12 months after the original assessment.

Please note –  An In-Year Assessment can only be conducted for candidates who are resident in the UK.  Once you have arrived in the UK and have taken up residency please complete the In-Year Application Form for your son to be added to the waiting list.

Under the terms of Education Act 1998, all parents/carers of candidates refused admission have the right to appeal to an Independent Appeals Panel against any decision made by the School.  The decision of the Independent Appeals Panel is binding on both the School and parents/carers.   Please contact the Admissions Officer if you wish to exercise this right.
