Sports Committee

What is the Sports Committee?

The Sports Committee aims to raise additional funds to support the sporting activities provided by the College.  The College has a long tradition of developing excellent sportsmen and providing the boys with an extensive range of sporting opportunities.  The College has traditionally focused on rugby, cricket and athletics but more recently with the benefit of the new swimming pool the swimming and water polo teams and clubs have thrived.   Other sporting activities offered include basketball, tennis, table tennis, football, badminton and handball.

Recently the Sports Committee 200 club has provided the College with funding to purchase:

  • scrum machine
  • medical kits
  • basketball posts
  • video analysis tools
  • water polo goals

In addition a regular donation is made to support the extensive on-going weekend match programme ensuring that the boys can compete against some of the best schools both in the North West and Nationally.

How do they raise funds?

The Sports Committee run a 200 club with members paying £10 per month.  Each month half of the monies received go directly to the college sports activities and the remaining half is distributed as prizes to members.  Every month three lucky members win £100 with the remaining monies being paid out in 2 'super' draws annually.
